Today’s clairestelle8 challenge prompt was Sparkly! While short nails are kinda ANNOYING me, I did my best! Also, I rarely do sparkles, because, you know, glitter gets everywhere. As happened with this one.
Tämän päivän clairestelle8 haastetehtävä oli Sparkly! Vaikka lyhkäiset kynnet ärsyttävätkin tällä hetkellä, tein parhaani. Glitterikynsiä tulee tehtyä harvoin, koska duh, glitter menee kaikkialle. Niin kävi tämänkin kanssa.
As a base I used Illyrian Polish Secrets, which was almost like spreading blueberry jelly on my nails! It’s slightly see-through with two coats, but that’s just adding to blueberry stain like effect. I added some H&M red glitter on top – it has no name, sorry.
So yeah, I thought I’d try out keeping a blog in two languages. Just so you know ;).
Ajattelin sitten kirjoittaa blogia kahdella kielellä, noin tiedoksi ;).
Today’s clairestelle8 challenge prompt was”Toys”. I was originally bit lost – I don’t have any toys! Can adults have toys? but then I found this robot stamping plate from my stash, and voila.
Also, it was very problematic that I had just had a nail crisis: I managed to break off one nail in a major way in the shower, so I had to cut them ALL off to retain some sense of symmetry! …but then, most of the stamping images are now too big for my nails! This was one plate that had tiny images that fit. I decided to practise some reverse stamping:
The base is Illyrian Polish The Moon. I originally thought it was kind of a dull grey, the color in the bottle was a tad unappealing, but hello! Holographic goodness was revealed! It is fairly subtle, but very pretty!
I’m quite pleased with the reverse stamping. I haven’t done it a lot yet, so it was going to be a hit or miss, but it worked. After some tries, of course..
Here’s a picture of my nubs, without anything, btw. I don’t even remember when was the last time my nails were this short! It looks so WEIRD. And feels weird. Grow fast, please!
I know I said last Sunday’s smooshy nails would double as flowers for today’s challenge prompt, but I just can’t let things be! I wanted to do flowers, so flowers it is.
Base is Illyrian Polish In This Twilight, and on top of that I double stamped with Moyou London’s White Knight and Candy Floss and then I mattified it with Lumene Matt Top Coat (which is rapidly running out – must buy more). The image is from BM-XL216.
It turned out to have a bit of eye watering effect!
And here’s a look at In This Twilight before stamping – on its own it’s extremely sheer, and three coats won’t make it even near opaque, so I used Essence Whisper of Spring as a base to which I added two coats of ITT. I feel like it looks like butterfly wings or dragon scales? In any case, it definitely has a pretty effect, even more so in real life. Next time I think I’ll use a white base, I think it would suit this polish too.
I ended up trying out The Stars first from my Illyrian Polish loot. With a name like that, it obviously made a great base for galaxy nails! These are my first galaxy nails – why haven’t I done them before? I’ve loved so many galaxy manis on Instagram it’s insane.
Anyways, they turned out great for a first try!
Btw, I suck at free hand art. The “stars” are a bit wonky. I suppose it’s due to lack of practise.
I used so many polishes for this, haha!

I didn’t use all of them on all nails; it’s more of a mix and match. One learns as one goes on! For tools I used simply few little cut up pieces of a make up sponge, and a dotting tool.
If you’re looking for easy nail art to do, I definitely recommend this – just pat some color on and then some different color on top of it (keep going until it looks pretty to you), add a few dots, and you’re done! Now I wish I’d taken some pictures of the process to show you, but no such luck. I was too engrossed xd.
Here’s a picture of the base: the background seems a bit yellow in it, but I had to tweak it a but to bring out the real hue. The Stars is so blue, it’s nearly… green? The holoflakes shine so prettily in the light!
Back in December, I won in an Instagram raffle organized by Illyrian Polish, and now my winnings are finally here! Excitingggg. It was jampacked with other goodies too, so I figured I’d do longer post about them.
First of all, the original price was the Winter Collection, which included (from left to right) Shadow of your heart, The Stars, The Moon, In this twilight, and Darkness.
The whole box was filled with these unicorn stickers. Cute AF.
On top of the price, I received two extras: Colors of the Month from December and January, Blaze and Secrets.
To my delight, I also received some candy!
I also got a pouch…
Super cute. I love the rose gold color. Must figure out what to put in it.
And finally, stationary:
I have to say, I’m a sucker for bad puns… “you’re the POM” xd! Cute!
So there it is! Now my only problem is, what to try out first. Did anything catch your eye?
