Pink Panth… Leopard Nails

Today I have some leopard print nails to show you (and once again a design I have not done before!).

Tänään on vuorossa taas tyyli, jota en ole kokeillut aiemmin: leopardikynnet.

I didn’t want to do browns and blacks, so I opted for a pink color scheme. If I haven’t mentioned it before, pink is my favorite color! I used Picture Polish Bardot as a base, and spots were done with Paris, from the same brand. I outlined the spots with Moyou London Black Knight – which is starting to run out! Damn it. It’s a good black stamping polish, but I’m not buying more, as I don’t like the bottle. For outlining I used Essence dotting tool.

I very much liked these! I had some initial trouble, as I didn’t know what size the dots should be, or how crowded the black line would make them, but after a few practice nails, these were easy to do. Next time I want to try a wilder color scheme!

What’s your favorite animal print? Or do you hate them?

Mikä on Sinun lempieläinprinttisi? Vai onko sitä?

Pirate Nails

Last nails of the month are ones I did some time ago (you can tell because there is no cut on my index finger). I had bought Picture Polish Fool’s Gold second hand through Facebook, and of course the Uberchic Mermaid Life -plate had also just arrived, so I got inspired. Pirates are fools for gold, aren’t they? 😉

For stamping I used Moyou London’s It’s a Date! stamping polish, which is a deep golden brown. It fit well with the turquoise.

Leimaukseen käytin Moyou Londonin It’s a Date! -leimalakkaa, joka on tumma kullanruskea. Se sopi turkoosiin hyvin.

The design was simple, but I was very fond of these – too often I try to do things that are supercomplicated and overplanned, and forget that simple nail designs are nothing to sniff at.

On Sunday, I think I’ll participate in Smooshy Nail Sunday again, so look forward to it! It will be very blue! Have a nice weekend! (Edit. I am so not good with changes. Smooshynailsunday is now biweekly, so it’s next Sunday, not this one!)

Picture Polish Instagram Challenge: Inspired by the Name

I decided to enter Picture Polish Instagram challenge last week, and the theme to do was: Inspired by the name of a PP shade, tell the story of the polish on your nails. Obviously I was like huh? at first. Tell the story? What does that mean? They usually leave things a bit ambiguos, to leave room for interpretation (I think), which can be a bit of a pain in the arse. Like with this; was I supposed to do it like the design on the nails would do the talking, or actually tell a story in words? In the end, I decided I would do a bit of both.

As I perused my Picture Polish nail polish stock (it’s not that large), a kind of movie theme struck me; I thought of old films, and of Lawrence of Arabia in particular, and of other dramatic and even more romantic films. So, these nails are my interpretation of sky in movies situated in Arabian Peninsula on a night when you can see the whole galaxy, filled with thousands of stars that shine their white lights on you. Your nemesis is right behind you, but as the hero of the story you are brave enough to stop, and wonder at the magnificence of cosmos, preferably with an attractive companion, as in all romantic movies!

(Ignore the wound on my index finger – I had a fateful encounter with my two old nemesis, Dull Bread Knife and Crusty Bread. I swear, one day that spot will have a permanent scar!)

Picture Polish Instagram Competition Entry: Gradient

On Instagram, the Australian brand Picture Polish hosted a gradient competition. I was immediatly interested, since hey, I love gradients! The rules stated that you could use 2-5  PP polishes and no embellishments. Yesterday was the big participation day, but I figured that I’d post pictures here today, so as not to spam twice a day. (Never mind the fact that this is now third post in as many days, which is a bit unusual for me)

So, the gradient! I went for romantic theme.

It’s not really a fancy gradient, or innovative, or exotic… but tell you the truth, these are my third nails! I had big plans twice before this, but they were total nail fails in the end! So this is what I ended up with.

The rules wanted also a picture with the polishes in.

And finally the flowers that made it in the picture – I got them for Valentine’s <3. So vibrant!

Galaxy Nails + Illyrian Polish The Stars Review

I ended up trying out The Stars first from my Illyrian Polish loot. With a name like that, it obviously made a great base for galaxy nails! These are my first galaxy nails – why haven’t I done them before? I’ve loved so many galaxy manis on Instagram it’s insane.

Anyways, they turned out great for a first try!

img_20170209_140811

Btw, I suck at free hand art. The “stars” are a bit wonky. I suppose it’s due to lack of practise.

I used so many polishes for this, haha!

  • Illyrian Polish The Stars
  • F.U.N Lacquer Illusion
  • F.U.N Lacquer Unicorn Island
  • a england Let Me In
  • a england Cathy
  • Picture Polish Cosmos
  • Picure Polish Lakodom
  • Moyou London White Knight

I didn’t use all of them on all nails; it’s more of a mix and match. One learns as one goes on! For tools I used simply few little cut up pieces of a make up sponge, and a dotting tool.

If you’re looking for easy nail art to do, I definitely recommend this – just pat some color on and then some different color on top of it (keep going until it looks pretty to you), add a few dots, and you’re done! Now I wish I’d taken some pictures of the process to show you, but no such luck. I was too engrossed xd.

Here’s a picture of the base: the background seems a bit yellow in it, but I had to tweak it a but to bring out the real hue. The Stars is so blue, it’s nearly… green? The holoflakes shine so prettily in the light!

#smooshynailsunday – blue, orange, violet

So this week’s colors were blue, orange, and violet, and I used all Picture Polish line: Alice, Autumn, and Nemesis:

2017-01-21-18-34-20
Picture Polish Alice, Autumn, Nemesis

It turned out a bit messy – maybe due to the amount of scatter holo in Autumn and Alice, but I wanted something sparkly! It’s okay, but not my favourite. Adding anything to this proved impossible, so no add-on this week. Nothing seemed to fit!

It’s probably due to my uninspired-ness lately; I’ve had a headache for past three days, and really not feeling up to anything complicated. Also, there’s a few exam resits next week, and it’s totally stressing me out! Let me tell you, grammar and history of English are not too easy!

But hey! Good news is that I figured out a topic for my bachelor’s thesis! Now I’ll just have to start writing my research proposal…

#smooshynailsunday – one year anniversary!

So this week #smooshynailsunday is a bit special – it has been going on for one year! The colours chosen to commemorate this were black, white, neon yellow, and shocking pink:

2017-01-14-15-35-50
TonyMoly Cotton Candy Collection pink and yellow, Rimmel Black and Picture Polish Bright White

It turned out very impressionistic! I like it! It kinda reminds me of candy:

Yummy

And to make it extra special, the prompt was to add a topcoat of glitter or something shiny:

With a top coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust

Now, I was meaning to add some stamping, but it did not go very well. It looked a very cold mess, so I didn’t take any pictures and just removed the whole disaster. Oh well, at least I had pictures taken before!
