Smooshy Nail Sunday – Sunset

This Sunday’s colors were very pleasing to the eye – sunset colors, reds, oranges and yellows. I really liked these!

Sunnuntaismoossin värit olivat oikein mieleiset tällä viikolla – auringonlaskun punaiset, oranssit ja keltaiset sävyt. Pidin näistä erittäin paljon!

IMG_20170414_114212_HDR

But I have an embarrassing confession to make: I do not remember what polishes I used! I think the orange was from Essence, and possibly yellow too, but I don’t remember the red at all… I did these over a week ago, and did not write them down. Sigh.

Huoh.

Thankfully the stamping plate is easier to track down! I used Lina Nail Art Supplies Make Your Mark 03. I like the splatter effect. And I mattified the whole thing with Ella+Mila Matte-ly in Love.

Onneksi leimauslaatta on helpompi muistaa! Käytin Lina Nail Art Suppliesin Make Your Mark kolmosta . Splätteriefektistä tuli hauska. Koko komeuden mattasin Ella+Mila Matte-ly in Lovella.

How’s Your Sunday going?

Miten Sinun sunnuntaisi sujuu?

Smooshy Nail Sunday – Three Hues of Blue

So this smooshy is all about blue, and I am definitely welcoming the change. By the way, I don’t decide on the colors myself – there is a biweekly Instagram challenge going on that I participate in, or not, depending on whether I like the color combo or not. (Which is also why these posts tend to be a bit sporadical) This time I liked it!

A Blue Smooshy

My ring finger bubbled a bit – so much nail polish!

Nimetön päätyi hiukan kuplimaan, johtuen lakkamäärästä.

A Blue Smooshy Turned into Butterly Wings

I have wanted to do butterfly nails for ages, and this color combo seemed like a perfect fit for it. As you can see, this was definitely my first try, haha! Also, I’m in the habit of doing my nails at night, so the lines are wonky due my inexpertise AND bad lighting. But they could have been worse – I’m kind of proud of myself.

Olen halunnut tehdä perhoskynsiä jo pidemmän aikaa, ja nämä värit suorastaan kerjäsivät päästä käytetyksi siihen tarkoitukseen. Kuten ehkä näkyy, yritys on ensimmäinen, hah!

OPI Keeping Suzy at Bay, Kiko 521, Essence Itsy Bitsy Blue Bikini

For the smoosh, I used OPI Keeping Suzy at Bay, Kiko 521, and Essence Itsy Bitsy Blue Bikini. The butterfly wing motif I drew on with a small nail art brush, which did not make it into picture, as well as Moyou London’s Black Knight polish.

Smooshyyn käytin OPIn Keeping Suzy at Bay, Kiko 521, ja Essencen Itsy Bitsy Blue Bikini.

So that’s it! Are you having a nice Sunday?

Tälläistä tänään! Meneekö sunnuntaisi mukavasti?

Smooshy Nail Sunday – Green, Light Green, Yellow

Like the title says, this week’s smooshy colors were quite spring-y! I’m not usually a fan of green and yellow – and I have only like, one of each colour, for emergencies – but I figured to give it a shot. Anything to avoid doing my bachelor’s thesis! I’ve been swamped in philosophical hell lately, and let me tell you: not fun. But here is the result!

Polishes used/Käytetyt lakat: Essie Mint Candy Apple, an unnamed green, Tony Moly Cotton Candy Yellow.

2017-03-03-11-37-18

The result was kind of dominatingly green, so I went with a forest theme on stamping. The images are from Moyou London Animal 12, and I stamped with the brand’s own It’s a Date! – a glimmering mid-brown. The pointer is kind of pebbly, because obviously I messed one nail up and redid it half-assedly. So pro.

Smooshyn tulos oli aika dominoivan vihreä, joten metsäteema kutsui. Kuviot ovat Moyou Londonin Animal 12 -laatasta, ja leimasin saman merkin It’s a Date! -lakalla, joka on jokseenkin kimalteleva keskiruskea. Etusormi sai osumaa kuivumisvaiheessa, joten se on vähän… tekstuurinen, koska korjasin sen turhan puolihuolimattomasti. Ammattilaisuuteen vielä matkaa, kenties.

Here’s the last shot with Essie – still the best mint there is. Enjoy your Sunday!

Mukavaa sunnuntaita!

Smooshy Nail Sunday – Pink, Purple, and Aqua

The title says it all. Actually it was neon pink and neon purple, but hey, I don’t own… neons. Bit too bright for me! I made do with OPI line: Apartment for Two, Suzi and the Seven Dusseldorfsm and Gelato on My Mind.

The result was kind of.. mystic! I like it!

And here’s what I stamped on top of it. I used Moyou London Suki 16, with OPI Keeping Suzi at Bay. The polish is not really meant for stamping, as you can see from faintness of the lines, but I think it went well in any case.

2017-02-18-16-23-35

You know, it feels weird to say here are my nails of the day when these were really done on.. Friday and Saturday! And um, this is a scheduled post too. Sometimes I think it’s odd to “speak” in present here when these are done days ahead. Do you ever get that feeling?

Smooshy Nail Sunday – Red, Pink, Yellow, and Beige

This Sunday I had a bit more successful smoosh! I wasn’t sure about the combo at first – yellow and red? With beige, of all things? But happily it turned out okay:

Moo Moo’s Signatures Fire Rooster, Chang-E, Tony Moly Cotton Candy Yellow, OPI Be There in a Prosecco

The result reminded me of ice cream! As kids, we used to eat these tricolor ice cream packets, and when it melted a bit in the bowl, it looked a bit like this.

Konad red stamping polish, Hehe plate 088

I added some flowers for good measure. This is actually my entry for clairestelle8’s monthly challenge for 11th of this month: the prompt is “flowers”. So you get to see these first and don’t tell anyone I’m multipurposing my nail art! These will go up on Instagram on the 11th, right on schedule *wink*.

Oh, and a shout out to Moyou London’s Smudge-resistant Top Coat! I tested it out with the Konad red stamping polish, because I know it stains and spreads LIKE MAD, if I’m not careful. Not one smudge, and I used the top coat literally right after stamping! It takes slightly longer to dry than quick dry top coats, but if you’re worried about spreading, I can recommend this. And who says you can’t add a quick dry top coat on top of this?

Quick January recap and plans for February

So another month has passed and we’re into February! I thought I’d do a quick recap, show my favourite manis and one smooshy that did not make it’s way into the blog…

First of all, here are my favourites from January:

img_20170131_214554_682
January’s favorite nails

These are my personal favorites – if I did a collage according to Instagram likes, it would be almost all smooshynailsunday creations, those seem to get the most! I wanted a bit of variation, though. I think I liked the peachy gradient with flowers best. Did you have a favorite?

…and speaking of smooshies, this one I only showed on Instagram, because I did not really like it, and I didn’t add any decorations. It actually looks a lot better in pictures; in real life it was just a vomit-hued mess! Some smooshies look great, some don’t, and this was definitely in the latter category.

Smooshed mess

In February I am going to try to do Clairestelle8’s monthly challenge, since the prompts are not scary! I’m not a big Valentine’s Day fan though, so I might go into a bit of anti-Valentine’s with them…

Are you a Valentine’s Day person?

#smooshynailsunday – blue, orange, violet

So this week’s colors were blue, orange, and violet, and I used all Picture Polish line: Alice, Autumn, and Nemesis:

2017-01-21-18-34-20
Picture Polish Alice, Autumn, Nemesis

It turned out a bit messy – maybe due to the amount of scatter holo in Autumn and Alice, but I wanted something sparkly! It’s okay, but not my favourite. Adding anything to this proved impossible, so no add-on this week. Nothing seemed to fit!

It’s probably due to my uninspired-ness lately; I’ve had a headache for past three days, and really not feeling up to anything complicated. Also, there’s a few exam resits next week, and it’s totally stressing me out! Let me tell you, grammar and history of English are not too easy!

But hey! Good news is that I figured out a topic for my bachelor’s thesis! Now I’ll just have to start writing my research proposal…
